A couple of years ago, I shared my experience with the Wildgrain bread and pasta subscription box. I was so impressed by both the convenience and quality; Wildgrain has become my go-to when I want to serve gourmet, artisan bread, or pasta. In this Wildgrain review, I thought I’d give you a fresh look at this bake-from-frozen bread subscription to share how it’s evolved and whether it continues to deliver the same delicious experience.

Wildgrain Review
I received a variety Wildgrain box for this review. It included:
- Slow Fermented Olive Oil Ciabatta
- Sourdough Bread
- Bavarian Pretzel Buns
- Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Fettuccine
- Tonnarelli
- Bonus Free Croissants (For a limited time, new subscribers get 4 free croissants in every box – up to a $144 yearly value!)
After receiving my Wildgrain box, I baked and cooked up everything over the subsequent weeks. Since everything is frozen, and can be stored in the freezer for up to 12 months, it allows you to bake up what you want, when you want.
Wildgrain Sourdough Bread
The entire Wildgrain concept started with Sourdough Bread. They focused on sourdough bread because of the many benefits the fermentation process provides, including reduction of gluten in the bread and providing health gut prebiotics. While they’ve expanded beyond the simple sourdough to include more types of fermented loaves and different flavors, the Wildgrain Sourdough Bread is a reliable staple.
As the loaf bakes in the oven, the crust turns from the pale yellow to a lovely golden brown. You can leave the loaf in the oven a little longer if you like a thicker crust. I really like that Wildgrain’s Sourdough Bread has a more subtle flavor – not a strong sourness.
Wildgrain Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies
Cookies are a regular treat in this house – whether baking them from scratch or buying them from the pink cookie store. When I saw that my Wildgrain box included these Giant Chocolate Chunk Cookies, I could not wait to bake them up.
These cookies bake up to a generous size – about 4″ in diameter. They have a wonderful chewy texture and a rich buttery flavor. In my opinion, Wildgrain’s frozen chocolate chip cookies have a more homemade taste than some of the other frozen cookie doughs on the market.
Wildgrain Bavarian Pretzels
I was very excited to try Wildgran’s Bavarian Pretzel Buns. I ate them as a sandwich roll, as Wildgrain suggest, and plain with butter. Wildgrain’s Pretzel Buns have a very pretzel-like flavor, but with a soft, bread roll texture. I really enjoyed the subtle sweetness and flavor the pretzel buns delivered.
Wildgrain Fettucine
In addition to bread and pastries, Wildgrain makes several different types of bake-from-frozen pasta including Fettuccine, Tortellini, and Potato Gnocchi. The cooking instructions for the pasta are printed on the packaging.
I mixed the Wildgrain Fettuccine with Alfredo sauce and topped it with grilled chicken. The Fettuccine noodles were perfect – soft and chewy with a rich flavor. Wildgrain pastas definitely provide a better pasta experience than dried pastas.
Wildgrain Slow Fermented Olive Oil Ciabbata
Ciabbata bread is another fermented bread, although it offers a much more subtle “sourness” than sourdough. Wildgrain makes their Slow Fremented Olive Oil Ciabatta with sourdough starter.
All of Wildgrain’s bread loaves baked up easily and made the house smell like a bakery as they baked. The crusts were nice and crispy and the inside of the loaves had a nice, soft texture.
Wildgrain Review: Final Thoughts
Whether eating sourdough or ciabbatta bread with dinner or enjoying a late-night, giant chocolate chip cookie, I thought Wildgrain delivered a gourmet, freshly baked experience. They make it so easy to add that little something extra to the meal without having the bake anything from scratch.
I love that everything from Wildgrain is bake-from-frozen. It allows me to keep things stored in the freezer until I’m ready to enjoy freshly baked bread or cookies. With Wildgrain, I can easily elevate meals with some fresh bread or have a sweet baked pastry as a treat.
