Unless you live in an area that’s prone to natural disasters, emergency preparedness isn’t typically top-of-mind. When I was in elementary school, we prepared for earthquakes. All of the kids had emergency kits packed and stored in case of an earthquake. But since then, I can’t say I’ve thought much about how to prepare for emergencies or natural disasters. This is a serious oversight on my part. We live in a place where wildfires occur and snowstorms can leave you stranded. Fortunately, I recently learned about a new service that ensures you have food and sustenance for short-term emergencies – Emergency Prep Club.
Emergency Prep Club helps families prepare for emergencies and natural disasters like floods, wildfires, and tornadoes. They offer emergency food kits filled with allergen-free, shelf-stable, and tasty foods to sustain you and your family through short-term emergencies. Each kit includes food and snacks to provide balanced nutrition and energy to get you through the day.
Last year, there was a large, 5,000-acre forest fire near us. And when I say “near” I mean, one street north of us. Almost 500 of our neighbors were evacuated. We were on the very edge of the evacuation zone, so we were allowed to stay, with a warning that we were “on our own” (meaning, there would be no rescue if the fire got closer.) Throughout the day and into the night, Gil and I kept watch on the plumes of smoke and flames that drew closer and closer. We made a checklist and planned what we would need to grab if the fire jumped the road. It was a clear shot from the fire to our neighbor’s land to us. It took days before the brave firefighters were able to get the fire under control. Meanwhile, a road, a driveway, and our lawn sprinklers were our protection.
Thankfully, after almost a week, the fire was contained with no homes or buildings damaged and no lives lost. But many of our neighbors had to spend several days in evacuation shelters with only the belongings they’d taken with them to survive. While they had temporary shelter, evacuees were on their own for food.
This is a perfect example of a time when Emergency Prep Club would be extremely beneficial. While our neighbors had a place to stay, they still lacked many essentials. With Emergency Prep Club, you can ensure you and your family will always have food to eat in case of an emergency. Just keep a bag in your car or by the front door to make it easy to grab and go quickly. You can choose from 3, 7, or 14-day food kits. Kits include a variety of shelf-stable, pre-packaged products like jerky, fruit strips, crackers, and even coffee and lemonade. There is currently a gluten-free kit and they have plans to launch dairy-free, nut-free and vegan kits as well.
I received the Emergency Prep Club 3-day Gluten-Free Kit for review. Here’s everything that was in the kit.
They also include a sample menu with suggestions for Morning, Mid-Day, and Evening meals, along with a snack. The menu is designed to provide 85g of protein and 2,000 calories per day.
Emergency Prep Club offers single kits or subscriptions that deliver a new kit every 6 months. That way you’ll always have a fresh supply of food ready-to-go if needed. Once you get your new kit, you can put the goodies from the first kit into your pantry to eat. Tip: These items are great for sustenance while camping or hiking.
Emergency Prep Club takes the guesswork out of how to stock-up with the right healthy and nutritious foods. The food and snacks included in the kits are high-quality, fulfilling, and tasty.
If you live in an area that is prone to natural disasters, or if you just want to prepare for emergencies with a supply of food on-hand, check out Emergency Prep Club at www.emergencyprepclub.com. Emergency Prep Club kits start at $74.99 for a 3-day kit. You’ll save 5% if you subscribe to their service.

I like the three day Gluten – Free Emergency Kit .
Replenishing the supplies every six months is a great idea. That is early enough that the foods in the kit are still good and you can just eat them as normal and put the new kit in its place. The worst part about these kits is the double-edged sword of buying it just in case, but hoping you never need it, meaning it goes to waste.
I would like the vegan kit when it comes out.
