Alaya Tea is an Indian, women-owned, premium loose-leaf tea company based in Southern California. Alaya sources its teas directly from regenerative organic farms in India. The owners derived the name Alaya from Himalaya, the region in which they were raised and inspired them to build a tea brand.
I received complimentary loose-leaf teas in exchange for this honest Alaya Tea review. All opinions are my own.
Alaya Tea is grown in the East India state of West Bengal, known for producing tea and other herbal plants. And in this region, women are the backbone of agriculture, harvesting the tea leaves by hand.
With regenerative organic agriculture, combined with the climate, and the community, they create a sustainable product which benefits all with fair wages and better health. Using plastic-free packaging and a biodegradable compostable shipping mailer, it’s better for the environment.
Alaya Tea arrives as a loose-leaf tea, because whole loose-leaf tea gives the most flavor and least processed version of tea compared to many teas found in tea bags. They also have less waste without having a tea bag and the properties associated with them. Alaya teas are USDA Certified Organic.
During this gift-giving season, Alaya tea makes a great choice for many in your life, and we received two teas to review for you, Darjeeling Green Tea and Tulsi/Holy Basil, a caffeine-free herbal tea.
Darjeeling Green Tea is a green tea which has not been oxidized, and it retains its green color as it dries after harvest. It has a nice aroma and a wonderful taste. It can be served hot or iced.
Tulsi/Holy Basil is an herbal tea, from the Indian Basil plant, revered for therapeutic properties. It has a lovely aroma, with an almost lightly sweet mint taste (to me).
Alaya Tea carries a variety of teas, including Black and Oolong, Darjeeling, Herbal, and Green. They also carry Ceramics and Brew Tools and Gift Bundles for your holiday and gift giving needs.
Alaya Tea is a loose-leaf tea brand you can feel confident giving as a gift, because of their responsible regenerative organic farm practices, biodegradable packaging, and a premium variety of delicious teas sure to please your recipient.
