Most of us know a picky man who is hard to shop for. To be honest, it might not even be the fact that they are picky; it could be that they simply say ‘I don’t know’ every time you ask them what they’d like for their birthday or holidays. Fortunately, we have come up with a helpful little list of some of the gift ideas for picky men. Hopefully, it’ll help you with a few gift ideas in case they give you no clues on what they want.
Experience Days
The first type of gift is one which can be used for anyone. You can use it for your dad, uncle, boyfriend, husband or grandad. Experience days come in many different forms, which means that whatever he likes, you will be able to find an experience day which fits it. If your dad loves supercars you can buy him a driving experience. If your boyfriend loves wolves, you could take him on an experience day to walk with and interact with wolves. It is a great gift to give for him as it will be something he can remember forever.
Clothes
While it isn’t the most exciting option, you can never go wrong with buying your dad or boyfriend clothes. From mens shirts, cuff links, a tie, and even socks, they will be happy with what you buy because it is something they can use. If you don’t know their size or style, you can enlist the help of another family member or even make an excuse to go out shopping with him to get ideas.
Food and drink
Sometimes, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. What man doesn’t love a good burger or beer? There are so many different gift ideas within the food and drink category which you can consider, so we are going to break it down into a few sections:
- Food – this could be a meal out at their favorite restaurant, a home-cooked dinner at home, a gift set of cheeses or a box of chocolates
- Drink – you could buy him a bottle of his favorite whiskey, a bottle of wine or even a crate of beer. You can even take him out for a day of beer tasting.
- Kitchen – if the man in your life loves to cook, you can buy him a present he can use in the kitchen. For example, you could buy him a set of skewers for the barbecue, chili sauces to use in his recipes, a grow your own veg kit or even a recipe book
Quirky gifts
If you’re shopping for a man with a sense of humor, you can add a bit of humor into your gift for them. There are some really great stocking stuffers and quirky gifts to buy for men, and one of the most popular is novelty slippers. If you do a quick search on Amazon you’ll be able to find monster claws, Scooby Doo and Star Wars characters like Yoda. It will be a laugh without costing you too much money. Another quirky gift idea for picky guys is a novelty t-shirt with his favorite tv show or film on it.
Something they need
Failing finding something you think they will want, you can buy them something that they need instead. If you know that your Dad is always moaning about having to go to the garage to check his tires, buy him a tire pressure gauge. By simply listening to the man in your life you will be able to think of items he could use and which will help him make life a bit easier.
Your company
Sometimes the best present you can give is your company. Rather than spending money on presents you are sure he will love, you can pay for a trip away instead. Book a small cottage or home for a couple of days in his favorite place and invite family and friends with you both. It means he gets the chance to have a lovely holiday as well as spend quality time with you and the people he loves the most.
Just ask!
If all else fails, just ask him what he wants! If he doesn’t give you a straight answer try and find out what he has in his Amazon wish list or if he needs a tool for some DIY around the house. You can never go wrong by buying him things he needs for work or things he has on hold to buy for himself at a later date.
asking works best for me most of the time
